Wrigley

I came into Wrigley's life when I was in such a dark place after the loss of my husband and children. I thought I knew what I was looking for, until what I was looking for found me. The day Jezabel and I came to meet him, watching him and Jez play put my heart at ease. I was head over heels and knew in that moment he had to be mine. He was my forever newborn I got to bring home.

The day he found me

No matter where we went, everyone fell in love with Wrigley and said he reminded them of a teddy bear. Even as he aged, people still thought he was a baby, and to me he always was one of my babies. In such a cold world, he made everything warm.

The teddy bear everyone loved

Wrigley-Bear loved pictures and photoshoots. All you'd have to say was "cheese" and he'd give you the sweetest smile right on cue. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Two months before Wrigley went downhill, he was submitted for a place in a calendar that helps shelters and fosters with food, shelter, and care. I was contacted that he had been chosen for the 2025-2026 Pet Paws calendar. It brought such a wave of emotions, excitement and happiness, but also sadness when I realized the month he is featured is January 2026, the same month that will mark a year without him. After sitting with my feelings, I came to feel it's a beautiful honor for his one year anniversary.

As I watched his little body fight so hard that last month and start to slip away, as much as I wanted him to stay, I didn't want to be selfish. As he took his last breath in my arms, I told him it was time to go and be free, and what a good and sweet baby boy he was. That I would miss him every day. A part of me went with him the day God called him home.
